10/22/11

Conference Call

1) Mtg. called to order by Pres. Sanders at 1305

3) Minutes of the last mtg.- Kathy stated the minutes need to have more information, rather than just basics.  JoAnn will add more information to the minutes of the last mtg., so when they are put on the web page, members will know what the BOD is discussing.  MSA Kathy/Ed

4) Chad Pore, Guest, Dir. Kiowa Co. EMS, talked about different ideas KEMTA could use to increase membership, and to assist that membership when purchasing new equipment or vehicles.  There is a consortium around the KC area called the “NCEMS Cooperative”, that has membership with the ‘Marker Group”  This consortium has made connections with companies such as Ferno, Boundtree, ARV, and Zoll, just to name a few.  If KEMTA were a member of the Consortium, all of our Service Memberships would have access to lower prices on supplies, equipment and vehicles.  Being a member of a consortium also means Service Direc Another idea would be Insurance for death and dismemberment of members.  Chad volunteered to continue working for KEMTA to bring these items to our membership. MSA, Kathy/Tammy  Ed added that his EMS agency and surrounding Counties buy from the same  company and their equipment and supplies were identical on all units.  This helps in mutual aide situations.

5)  2012 Conference, in Hutchinson, Ramada Inn.  Kathy, Garry and Eric need the Educational Tract schedule to make arrangements with the Hotel for space, equipment, scheduling breaks and meals.  Karen replied the schedule will basically be the same.  It was decided to extend the Vendors Reception to 2 hours, and the Toys for Techs to 2 hours, giving the Vendors more time with participants.

6) Education Committee- Karen has confirmation and Bios on Bill, Mike, and Gary.  She is waiting to hear from Scott.  This info. Will go on the web page.  Other presenters have been contacted and agreed to participate.

7) Vendors- Kathy has the letters ready to send.  She and her committee have updated the letters, and encourage vendors to sponsor a speaker.

8) Hospitality-  Ed and Kyle have contacted sponsors for the event, talked about food and entertainment.  Perhaps Karaoke?

9) Decoration Committee-  This will be on St. Patrick's Day.

10) Awards- JoAnn reported -0- nominations have been received.  Need to remind persons on the web page and the Newsletter to get nominations written and sent.

11) Tammy inventoried all Logo Items.  Need to order shorts, Ambulances, and new T-shirts and sweat shirts  JoAnn said since we don’t have ‘dated’ shirts from the last conference, there are -0- quilt materials.  Does KEMTA want to continue with the quilt raffle?  Response, Yes.  Tammy will have some squares made from earlier shirt screening to be used.

12) Elections- Members up for re-election.  Ed, Kathy, Clay, John, Gerry.  If you are interested in becoming a BOD member for KEMTA,  contact Kathy Dooley for information on the positions available.

13) Entertainment- Clay wanted to hear the ‘Calahan Band’ before signing a contract.  Ed and Eric both volunteered to drive to the next appearance of the band.  Their fee is $750.00.  Eric heard a band recently, good, but $1000.00.

14) Newsletter- The By-Laws state there is to be a standing committee for the newsletter.  Gerry, Pam, Kathy, John.  All BOD members are to write an item for the newsletter and forward to Pam.  The newsletter needs to be quarterly.

15) KEMTA CDs.-  Amounts of the CDs are unknown.  Eric will go to Emporia this week to get them..

16) Franklin Co. EMS is hosting an AMLS class and an Instructor class.  It had been scheduled for Oct., has been postponed until Dec. 15-16.  Nick was encouraged to locate a Hotel for special rates for those traveling distances, and to ask that Hotel for sponsorship.  KEMTA will provide lunch the first day and free KEMTA Membership.  Other conversation addressed further outreach training.  Is there a need for ‘Transition Classes?’ PHTLS?  NAEMT Transition for Paramedics.? Karen, Ed, JoAnn, and Brad were assigned to the Edu. Committee. Franklin Co. is also hosting a PHTLS class for early ‘12

17) Dr. Meirose was contacted to serve as the Medical Director for KEMTA Program Provider Agreement.  He has not responded at this time.

18) Registration- Last year we used the ‘Rapid Tag’ system as well as the paper sign-in.  Complaints were received that participants entered the room, were scanned in, and then left the class room.  They received C.E.s.  It is the decision of the BOD to use name tags made by Hutchinson Chamber, paper sign-in sheets.  Also, KEMTA BOD Member will be at the door to monitor persons leaving the sessions, and not returning.  All BOD members must help in the coordination of the conference and take an active role.

19) Deadline for the final brochure, Jan. 15., ‘12.  Registration fees to remain the same, MSA, Kathy /JoAnn Topics for pre-conference were Farm Extrication, Landing Zone, Clay will be contacted. Need to know costs.
